About PPC
The Parkland Paddling Club is a non-profit, community-based club dedicated to promoting, developing, and supporting a safe, fun, accessible, and responsible paddling community.
Through weekly pool sessions in the winter and outdoor adventures / programs in the summer, the Parkland Paddling Club aims to provide access to equipment, training opportunities and a welcoming community in order to make the joys and benefits of paddling available to people in the parkland. The club is structured to benefit members by:
- Providing access to club specific, winter pool time;
- Provide a base of subsidized rental equipment for members to access;
- Provide opportunities for instruction and learning;
- Provide an online communication resource through our e-newsletter and our Facebook Page (in development);
- Provide a welcoming community of folks and families interested in having fun through paddling;
- Provide an advocacy voice for paddling related topics in the parkland;
Most club related paddling events are structured as self directed and open session. However, when formal and organized instruction is being offered, leadership will be provided by Mick Lautt, one of Canada's senior nationally certified Kayak instructors. During designated club courses and clinics, Mick will take members through a progressive skill development program in a positive and safe learning environment.
The PPC is an affiliate of Paddle Manitoba
All courses and clinics are taught following the most current national guidelines as established by Paddle Canada and Canoe Kayak Canada.
We teach and practice the 7 "Leave No Trace" outdoor recreation / camping environmental principles. Visit LNT Canada here.
